The country is currently going through tough times as COVID-19 continues to spread. Although I haven’t been able to go out a purchase an album to review, I’ve decided to review a couple from my personal stash.
During my early teenage years, I was a huge fangirl. When I look back at it, I’m very embarrassed but those were some of the best years of my life… until they broke up. The group I’m referring to is One Direction. A very popular boy group that consist of five members- Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne. They released four albums as a full group, but released their last album, Made in the A.M. without a member of the group- Zayn Malik. I’ll be sharing my thoughts on their last album as a full five-member group, Four.
On November 17, 2014, 1D released an album titled Four. The album includes 16 tracks that continue to find a home in my playlist because they take me back to those years of excited cheers. They also make for really fun car ride songs, especially Fireproof- Track 9. This song includes some nice soothing harmonies that are enchanting to the ears and is followed with a nice mellow beat that’s a perfect addition to a road trip playlist.
Although I mentioned Fireproof, it’s not my favorite song, but it resides in my top five. The best song off that album, to me, would have to be Clouds- Track 12. Since the first time I listened to it I’ve been obsessed with it, and it’s the first song I think when this album is brought up with a friend of mine. However, there’s one song that I usually skip and that Steal My Girl- Track 1. I know it’s one of the singles they released but it just never did anything for me. It’s just another pop song that, depending on the mood, it’ll be quickly skipped, or you’ll have it blasting on your speakers. There’s no in-between. Overall, the album is fun, chill and random. It’s an album that includes songs that are nothing alike, and yet it doesn’t feel wrong when you listen to it.
It’s been tough for the past couple weeks. However, I hope to anyone that reads this is staying safe out there and practicing social distancing. Stay Stafe!
