The theme of my blog has been to review pop albums. For the meantime, I’m reviewing those at the top of the charts in America and other countries. With my lack of experience, I was unsure of how to begin my reviews. I needed to find a blog that was open to any type of pop music and gave honest reviews based solely on the music.
In my search I found The Young Folks, a site that includes reviews on many different topics, including film, television shows, books, video games, and most importantly music. Not only reviews from the site creators themselves, but from readers who were interested in writing for the blog to help cover the different forms of entertainment. Their goal is to “reflect the voices of our generation.” One voice doesn’t define our incredibly diverse generation, and their reviews show that. A very wide selection is provided for their audience. I hope to have a blog like it, but still unique in my own way.
I admire the fact that they don’t focus on just one form of entertainment. My main interest is music; however, I’d like to expand that and include video games and anime. I’d love to start now but I haven’t had much exposure to both since I’m not a frequent gamer and I just started watching anime late 2018. I have time.
I started my first review on my own with no influence from this blog. I wanted to test myself to see if I could figure it out on my own, but as I started reading through their articles they did a great job at making sure to include their thoughts on each individual song. A very mindless mistake in my part, but I’ll learn from that mistake. I want my future audience to come to my blog for honest reviews just like I will now with The Youngest Folks. This is only the beginning for me.
