Hey music lovers! My name is Maria Capetillo, here to provide you with some personal reviews on some of the most talked about pop albums. Mainly those earning a spot in the Billboard Top 200. I’ll also include albums that are popular in both Japan and Korea. I’ll be giving honest reviews on artists that I admire, and ignoring the fact that I’m a fan. The quality of their music is my top priority. I’ll be focusing on three things:
- Instrumentals.
- Lyrics.
- Overall feel of the album.
I love music. Always have since I was a kid. One day, I hope to create my own, and collaborate with some of my favorite artists. I’ve chosen this topic because I genuinely want to learn what goes into making an album, and what inspires the artist. I want to understand how different countries and their music industries work. What inspires them decide on the concepts they give their groups, or if artists are allowed any input into their music. I’m very critical, but also very new to this. I currently know nothing about how producers work, but I’m hoping this blog will help me.
I view albums as a work of art, as many do. Although I’m somewhat oblivious, I still believe an album should include a series of songs that tells a story or follow a certain concept. Meanwhile, avoiding being repetitive with each song. I hope to reach an audience that understands that we all have different taste, and that I won’t always like what some popular artist put out. I also understand that bashing an artist is one thing and having critical comments about their work is another. It is a review after all.
I’ll be setting up my Spotify and start creating public playlist that will include my Top Songs of the Week/Month, or even categorizing them with whatever vibe they give off. For now I’m reviewing pop artist I’m interested in. However, in the future, I would love to have suggestions on whose album to review next. Hope you enjoy my post!
